Here you will find the most frequently asked questions about our products.
What information does the display show?
The top row shows the instantaneous consumption of hot + cold water. The bottom row shows the accumulated consumption / day (cumulative counter) or the remaining amount (if a goal has been previously set). Count down version.
What happens when the remaining amount of water in count down version reaches 0?
The display shows negative values, water flow is not interrupted ( unless it's pay per use version ).
How much does the device save?
The device can generate savings of 5% to 18% ( depending on building type) & users. Buildings with showers such as hotels (11%), hospitals (7%) or homes (18%) offer greater savings potential than those with no showers such as museums or offices (5%). The percentages indicated are an indicative range, not binding data, since we cannot predict people's behavior, just averages.
Technical requirements
220V socket ; hidraulic : G1/2'' thread ; external communications with RJ45.
Is it compatible with aerators, electronic mixers, temporized taps or pressure limiters?
Yes, the Smart Water Flow Monitor complements them.
Does it introduce pressure loss?
Yes, 0,04kg/cm2 with 10 l /m.
What's the warranty period?
2 years under normal use.
Does it support legionella tests?
Yes, water temp up to 90ºC.
Is it for a new or existing building / refurbishment?
Installation is easier in a new building or a building undergoing renovation. However, it can also be installed in an existing building. In this case it is necessary to close the stopcocks and insert the flowmeters into the water pipes. The RF (radio frequency) version facilitates the connection between flowmeter and display, without the need to pass cables between them.
In which units is the information shown?
Flow is shown in litres and temperature in ºC.
Can it be connected to high pressure discharge circuits?
Yes, as long as the pressure is < 10b and the flow < 25 l /m
Is the mirror special?
Yes, it is a two-way spy mirror ; in a conventional mirror you cannot see the display behind it.
Does lime form in the SWFM?
Our first devices were installes 4 years ago and so far we have no evidence in Spain.
If the SWFM stops working, will the water still flow?
Yes, the water flow won't stop ( but the display won't show the information )
What % of Pb does the brass contain?
Less than 3%.
Did the SWFM pass the EMI Tests?
Yes, it did.
How does the flowmeter communicate with the display?
By wire or by RF.
How much energy does the SWFM need to operate?
Voltage (5V) x Intensity (1A) = 5W ; most of the time it's in STD-BY mode using just 0,2W.
Does it need maintenance?
No. We reccomend to check filtres every 3 years and eventually replace them if required.
Can the SWFM incoporate a flow limiter?
Yes, anything from 6 to 12 l / min
How much does it take to install the SWFM in a new building?
About 20 minutes. The mirror is not included as it's installed anyway.
Can the spy mirror be any size, shape?
Yes, we tailor it.
Most hotels disconnect the energy when the customer leaves the room
We recommend connecting the SWFM where there's always energy because by doing so we can show the daily accumulated values cprrectly.
Do you provide saving tips?
Yes, our web contains easy tips to follow to generate energy & water & Co2 savings.
Does it help get Breeam / Leeds certifications?
Real-time monitoring is one of the parameters that allows obtaining more points for Certification and a better energy qualification of the building or Enerphit certification for passive / sustainable / efficient buildings.
Is it possible to place the display somewhere other than behind the mirror?
Yes, its possbile to place anywhere with the retrofit box version without replacing the existing mirror.
How do the SFWM's transfer the information in a large buildings such as a hotel / hospital?
The communication between flowmeter and display can be by cable or RF; The sending of data to the cloud is done through mesh communications, where each device sends the data to the previous device, until it reaches the concentrator and from there to the cloud through a router.
Do we use existing wifi to transmit the data to the cloud?
We can use it, but if this were not possible, we can set up a paralel autonomous system too.
What's the granularity of the info sent?
The information is sent every 15 minutes but it can be changed if necessary.
My building already has a EMS ( energy management system ). Can I integrate water data in it?
Yes, we'd probably need to develop an API for it first.
What is the payback period?
Water and energy prices vary greatly between cities. The return on investment can fluctuate between 4 to 9 years; Send us your invoice and we can do a simulation study. No compromise.
